This old Queen Ann home can be found on Southerd Street, Key West (one way) on your way to town. The Ponceana (Royal) Tree was known for being the largest on the island.
The tree has now been cut back and the home restored to be one of the grandest ladies on the island.
Although the tree is locally known as the Royal Ponceana, George named the painting "Fire Tree" because of the heavy orange and red blooms reminding him of bright flames.
