Mount deChantal Visitation Academy is located in Wheeling, West Virginia, part of the northern panhandle. Its history dates back to 1865 when it was erected as a nunnery. The Mount, as it is referred to now, is currently a school for young ladies.

The attention to detail is evident. Carey is not a bricklayer by trade, but, in this case, he laid every one of those bricks one at a time. This is a beautiful painting.
Carey was drawn to paint the Mount because of the beauty of the campus and of the building.
